There
are a wide variety of career paths available
to Economics and Business Students and it
is a popular choice to study further at
University level. Students often find that
they are particularly interested in a topic
area and choose to specialise in at University.
The
business AS/A2 will suit any student that
wants to continue with a business-allied
degree or who want to specialise in any
one area of business i.e. Marketing and
Insurance. Increasingly students find that
many jobs and sectors now have a profit
motive which mean that businesses - even
charities - follow a business model in terms
of how they are run. This means that if
you become an engineer it is likely that
you will be involved at some stage in your
career with a business - you will progress
faster if you have a business bias or knowledge
as you will progress in this organisation
as a manager if you have the knowledge to
make business decisions be it recruitment,
finance or strategy-orientated.
Economics
at AS and A2 is seen as the more scientific
of the two AS options as it looks at the
science of business operations - this will
involve considering the issues of supply
and demand and the activities of Governments
to control the economy. As the economy involves
every one therefore Economics will involve
you - it is natural therefore that you will
understand many of the key issues discussed
in this course. We will examine the issues
of Growth, Inflation and how interest rates
control this and how countries compete in
trading to maintain imports and exports
to manage their Balance of Payments. |
