Separate FOSC groups work for Infant/Junior Schools and the Senior School. Each school has a Fundraising Coordination Team (FCT) consisting of one senior member of staff plus representatives from teaching and non-teaching staff.
Each FCT identifies fundraising events that they would like to run, and recruits a team consisting of parents, staff and students to run that event. In the Infant / Junior Schools, class parents have taken a leading role in organising and running these events.
Funds raised are split - with 70% going to the fund for the specific school and the remaining 30% being allocated to a central fund.
Expenditure from the centrally held (whole school) fund is controlled by a group consisting of the Principal, Heads, an employee who acts as Tresurer, six parents, the Head Boy and Girl and the leader of the Infant/Junior School Council.
Use of the funds held by each school is controlled by a committee, including the FCT, a parent, the Head and either the Head Boy and Girl (Senior School) or two Student Council Leaders (Infant / Junior Schools).
The new structure means that parents are able to give their time and energies to functions that directly benefit the part of the school attended by their children, without having to spend time on keeping accounts and looking after administrivia - these being handled internally. Parents retain a significant voice in the use of funds raised.
